If you’re a geocacher (novice, expert, anywhere in between),
I need you!!
I’m a senior at Maryland Institute, College of Art, and I am making a short documentary about geocaching and its following for my senior thesis. I highly respect the sport, and find not only the process but the community of people that results from it fascinating. I’ve been professionally producing/assisting in documentaries for a few years now, and I’m excited to see where this goes. I will be working on the piece from now until early spring, and I DESPERATELY need photos/videos/comments/opinions/rants from fellow geocachers/everyday people. Also, if you are in the Baltimore area, and are interested, I am looking for a few people to follow and shoot/interview during a hunt. I cannot pay you for your contributions, but you WILL be credited…and plus, you’ll make my day.

(the film, by the way, will be formally shown to all of the MICA campus, submitted to public access and the entire geocaching society, and entered in a few worldwide festivals in summer/fall of ‘06. so this ain’t no joke kids.)

SO, here’s what you can do to help a girl out and get yourself on film:
1. Gather up any photographs you may have on your computer from your geocaching adventures. (It can be anything…goofy, serious, plain old embarassing, whatever.)
2. Submit any video footage (quicktime format, if you have it) through email, or snail mail it to be in vhs/dvd/dv form. (E-mail me for an address.)
3. OR – If you have absolutely no footage of your hunts but still want to help, email me with anything you’d like to say (really, anything, as long as it’s somewhat serious), about the sport itself and/or your own experiences, and I can use the text in narration.

Like I said before, if I use your submission, you WILL be credited. However, by sending it to me, you allow me to do what I want with it. This may sound obvious, but for safety’s sake I gotta say it.

If you’ve made it this far and you’re still interested…message me or email me at swells@mica.edu.

Thanks a bunch, and I will most likely post more info when it comes along.
-Sheila
