Maryland’s First Travel Bug Challenge

Starting January 1, 2007 The Maryland GeoCaching Society is having it’s first Travel Bug Challenge. (Chalice Chase A) This event is being organized by MGS member Falcon Loader and should be quite fun for those willing to risk about $5.00 on a travel bug tag and an item to launch as a Travel Bug companion.

Tonylama suggested a 2 part run for the year. The first run will be from January 1 until the June Meet and Greet and a 2nd run going from June’s M&G through Dec 7th. At the June M&G we will empty the “Awards Kitty” and launch the 2nd set of Travel Bugs for the June through December Run. A special M&G will be planned for the ending of part B of the MGS 2007 Chase for the Chalice.

The Rules:
This is an “honor system” race of Travel Bugs. To participate, please abide by the following.

  • All Travel Bugs must be registered by Dec 20, 2007
  • No bug can start before January 1, 2007
  • No bug can be “helped” by the launcher once it leaves their hands”
  • No “walking stick” or personal tracking Travel bugs for the race
  • All transport after launch must be done “naturally” no snail mailing bugs to friends or asking the same.
  • No hindering of a bug once it is launched.
  • Each entrant must “ante up” an award item. (ie but not limited to… Travel Bug tag or un-activated coin)
  • Race A is from January to the June M&G
  • Race B will be from the June M&G to Dec 07
  • Maximum 2 Bugs per cacher.
  • Each Bug in its description will state:

    “This bug is part of the MGS 2007 Chase for the Chalice” – Please keep it moving.
