Vote for the Annual MGS Awards!!

It’s that time of year again to recognize our fellow cachers with the annual MGS awards. We will be taking nominations now through June 30th and will post the top three nominees in each category for member vote. Think about which cacher(s) from June 2009 to now who has achieved success in a particular category and submit your nomination to 2010core@mdgps.org. Be sure to put AWARD in the subject line.

We will recognize cachers from different regions within the state in several categories; Hider of the Year, Best Cache Hide of the Year, and Most Scenic Hide of the Year. Geocacher of the Year and Rookie of the Year will be awarded on a statewide basis.

The state is broken into 3 regions:

Western = Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick, Montgomery & Carroll.

Central = Baltimore, Baltimore City, Harford, Howard, AA, PG, Calvert, Charles, St. Mary's.

Eastern = Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne, Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester,
Wicomico, Worcester & Somerset.

When you submit your nomination, please indicate the region. All winners will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the MGS and recognized in front of their peers at the Aug 14th picnic at Rocks State Park.

The Categories are: Statewide:

Geocacher of The Year - Which Cacher(s) from June of last year until now has been the most dynamic in your eyes for geocaching in the state of Maryland.

Geocacher Rookie of The Year - Which Cacher(s) have really jumped on the scene this year and served up notice to all of us that they embody all facets of caching and do it well.

Regional: Indicate area when submitting your nomination.

Geocache Hider of the Year - Which Cacher has consistently put out great hides all year and maintained them well all year.

Best Cache Hide of the Year - Think about the one cache within the borders of Maryland that either put a big smile on your face or earned your respect.

Most Scenic Hide of the Year - What new Maryland hide put you in a spot that made you want to stay there for a long time and relax.

Its never too early to submit your nomination for the MGS Awards, please do so today.

As of today we have only received one nomination for one category. If you know of a cache or cacher you think is spectacular then nominate them for their efforts by sending in an e-mail.
