Ok, it has been confirmed that the Fall picnic will be on Saturday October 9th 2010 at Widmeyer Park, Hancock Maryland. Our event hosts this year will be two of our Directors, BJ&Snurt101 (Dwight) and Lpyankeefan (Larry). More information will be available when the cache page is published.

October 10th is my birthday so I'll set up a seperate table where everyone can drop of their presents for me... And it's okay. Money is not an object. If you spend too much on me then I will not feel bad and I will send you a thank you card.. LOL

Just kidding about all that.

I'm going to try my hardest to make it. I think I could get up their early in the morning with the other half, but would have to leave at like 1 or so. So will have to wait and see.

Spoke to Snurt about this just last night while caching near his house. Rest assured, plans are being drawn up for a wonderful time in Western Maryland come October.

Will post updates as they become available.

Happy Caching friends!

Pages are being written as we speak for a Friday evening bike ride event along the WMRT and a Sunday morning hike/bike ride event along the WMRT to the west to The Devils Eyebrow - An Appalachian Tale by Julia 51:) & Snurt (GC1DAD3)

Keep an eye out on appropriate threads here on the forums for more information as it becomes available.

I wish with all my heart we could make this one as it has become our family's favorite event. Sadly we (actually, g4rfi3ld) have (has) a prior and inescapable commitment the day of the event :brick: . We'll be there in our hearts though...

LadyH and I are attending. We would like to camp but are undecided.

the Picnic cache page states "outdoor water and electricity, and shower facilities are available at the park."

Can you elaborate on that availability? Like how close to where we can camp....how many campers will be able to have electricity.

Thanks,
hostanut

As stated on the cachepage, Widmeyer is not set up for camping. There are several water taps, mostly near the pavilions and several utility poles that have electric outlets, but I wouldn't count on their use for RV's or pop-ups. The good level ground for tents is along the creek. The optimal level area for RV's/pop-ups is across a bridge by the ballfield, plenty of turnaround room. That said, Widmeyer is a small park. The restrooms and showers are an easy walk from anywhere.

If our tent is still viable, I'm planning on tenting. I see a new air mattress in the future.
