HELP! How do I convert a picture to HTML
The hits just keep on coming. I noticed that my EC pictures on the cache page are no longer there. I had them on Photobucket & as of 7-1-17 they have changed their policies. You now must be a paying member (which Im not) to be able to post your own pictures on another post (they consider it 3rd party posting) SWELL!!! I have the pictures I put on the EC page but now how do I get them in the write up???? This is where my lack of pc stuff shows Thanks (please make any explanation as simple as possible because I am pretty simple.......

Re: HELP! How do I convert a picture to HTML
Use the link under admin tools on the cache page. Once you do that there will be a link at the bottom of the cache description for each photo you up load.

That link will be right above the "logged visits" counter. Click the link to see the picture. You will want to copy the address for the picture. It will be something like:
://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/05204d1c-b4f3-481c-a3cc-d530ee16adf2_l.jpg
But it will have https before the colon.

Then go to edit you cache page. You will need to figure out where you want the picture and then insert this HTML code which points to the picture. You will need to change the section between the quotes to be the address you copied.
<p><img alt src="://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/f15222cd-d734-43dc-95fe-9c77c4cd2249.png" /></p>
I took out the https again so you can see the link.

If you want to put a space between the pictures you can just put this
<p></p>
That will add a paragraph space between the pictures or text.

I like to use this page to get examples. You can type and format what you want and then click the source button to see what the HTML source needs to look like for the cache page to look right.

Re: HELP! How do I convert a picture to HTML
Anything you add to the cache page using the method above will get loaded to the gallery. You don't want to delete it. That is a way to be able to link the picture to the cache page without using another web page.

Does this mean that all COs with photos on photobucket need to update the links before anyone can work on puzzles that include photos?

Re: HELP! How do I convert a picture to HTML
I dont know but I have noticed on several cache pages (mine as well as other CO's, for EC's that the pictures are blocked out with the notice to upgrade their accounts to allow 3rd party Hosting. Its a real PITA. Photobucket is now asking some obnoxious amount to upgrade so that you can still transfer your photos from their site to forums etc or using for embedding pics here on our cache pages.

Re: HELP! How do I convert a picture to HTML
I know from another forum I am active on (nothing to do with geocaching) that the Photobucket changes policy has had a huge impact. Thousands of threads and webpages that no longer will link to the posted photos, and many, many pissed off an unhappy folks. The general consensus there has been to move to another hosting service. I have had luck with Flickr.
With regard to using photos as part of your cache write up, theI thinks the best bet is to use the gallery on the Groundspeak site as mentioned further up in this thread. Groundspeak, at least ostensibly, has somewhat of a vested interest in your cache page working. No other hosting service will care.
