They seem to be actively finishing them

There were some really marshy areas to navigate last fall. Too bad I have no boat, it would make life a little easier, but the hike will be great exercise! We're really looking forward to having a lot of fun!!

:)
Yes they had the one bridge done if you hike off to the left and they were almost done with another one so they are still actively working on them.

I sank pretty good last time, we had one of our 4 legged SoMDCacherz with us on leash so it was interesting in some spots!

I'm planning on attending the event. My first event ever. Got a quick question. Why are we meeting at the restaurant instead of in the park?

Do I bring something? What should I expect other than some new caches and a bunch of new friends?

Good question

Post by Last Lap Gang »

In the warmer weather months we usually do a pot luck and everyone brings something and the MGS usually supplies dogs and burgers. With the weather still iffy and the picnic facilities more limited at the park in March we decided on the restaurant. YOU wil NOT be sorry. The Barbque kicks butt. Just bring yourself and a few bucks for lunch.

Yummmmm, nothing like a Bear Creek BBQ. Definitely some of the best BBQ around. They have that huge restaurant area in the back now too. Are we having the meeting there and then moving to SMRP?

There will be 3 and a half of us. The entire Fritz Clan is planning on attending. Well, not the entire clan, the dog doesn't play well with others, so she won't be there.

That's why I'm leaving my two, and my wife, at home.

Just kidding, the dogs aren't that bad. :silenced:

Just kidding again, my wife is great, but the dogs are crazy, just ask Hacksta.

You wouldn't believe my dog. She's a 70 pound German Sheppard mix. Thinks she's human. Another dog gets anywhere near her, she's all over it. Took the neighbor's pit bull running. Didn't know what to think of this thing attacking him. Another neighbor's dalmation didn't fair too well. Oblina doesn't fight fair either, took him running while she was nipping at his, ... uhhhhhh, epuipment. :D :D

40 lb Shar Pei "Annie" that will take on my 100 lb Rottweiler "Lucy". Sometimes she wins. She's what we call "sassy".

Good kids though, and they play well most of the time but when they do tangle, yikes. I work with mostly women and see it all the time.

We have the 7th cavalry

Post by Last Lap Gang »

We don't bring all of ours out at once but very rarely. With 5 of them we resemble the 7th Cavalry.  With the stop at the restaurant we may be sans dogs but maybe baby or maybe just me or maybe ........ oh who knows at this point. 8O

I'm intending to be on bike if I don't get called into work. Ripley's mom & dad say they'll bring Ripley by and take CC home with her when the real fun starts. I made the walk fine last weekend but not sure how I'll fair on bike. Did see a few people with little ones doing ok. Mud is part of the game. Stickers too, just ask Shiraz.

When I dropped by Bear Creek to remind them we're coming I handed the owner a printout of the GC page. He looked at the sheet, looked at me, looked at the sheet again, then looked at me like I was from Mars :smt032(or maybe from Ridge!) Then he got this big pig-eatin' grin on his face :smt040 when he saw my estimate of hungry stomachs to feed. Hey man, geo-geeks gotta eat too! :smt023
What if there were no hypothetical questions?

And the number was????

Does the park have defined trails? Are they well established or just expanded game trails? Either way is fine, just want 5 y.o. Fritz Jr to be prepared.

The park has established trails but there are quite a few areas that are muddy or you will have to cross by stepping in a stream or walking across on a log. I saw one black fly last weekend and I'm sure by next week the mosquitos will start to show up. That is if it warms up. I saw a guy walking barefoot but I think he was nutty. I recommend hiking boots/shoes along with normal caching attire. It is a loooooong way around the lake. 7.5 to 11.5 miles depending on which trails you take. That is why I'm going to try biking it.

A few of the folks and I have talked about this and the camping weekend and we commend you for having your priorities straight!

If all parents were as dedicated as you are, coach or not, we'd all be a lot better off.
