If you have child caching with a Geomate Jr. you may want to check the lanyard. The lanyard that came with our grandson's Geomate is not a breakaway safety lanyard and his dad has removed it until he can get a replacement.

Yesterday we were out caching and our three year old grandson was proudly wearing his Geomate gps. When we were getting out of the truck at a cache he had unbuckled the top part of his carseat and I undid the bottom. As he usually does, he jumped out of the carseat and got ready to jump down to the ground. He put one foot out and then cried "Granny, I'm stuck". He had the lanyard twisted around the carseat strap and it was pulling tight on his neck.

Fortunately, I was standing right there, so no harm was done, but it was very frightening. He was wearing the lanyard that comes with the Geomate. If the lanyard had been of the breakaway type it would have come apart and the situation would not have happened.

It's always better to be safe than sorry. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and the messes that children can get themselves into is unbelieveable.

The cool thing about being a daddy... When my children want something the magic word is no longer "PLEASE"... The new magic word is "CORY IS AWESOME". I teach my children the most important phrases in life... such as "Google me... I'm famous" and how to make lightsaber sounds when you swing play swords.

Being a parent = GREAT!!!! (majority of the time)
