This month's geocache of the month was chosen because of it's proximity to the summer picnic. You may already know about it if you did CAM this year. It was a bonus cache.
"CAM Bonus: A View to a Kilgore"
GC Code: GC5HGAY
Where it's located: Rocks State Park Falling Branch Area (Jarrettsville, MD)
Favorite Points: 14
Description:
The view on the way up
This is a regular small geocache with a difficulty of 1.5 and terrain of 3.5. It requires a stream crossing, but has two different paths to get to the geocache. The geocache pages states, " Once on the other side, you'll need to work out where to begin your ascent. There’s the north approach (a more difficult, dangerous, and awesome way) and a south approach (an easier but less interesting way). The north approach is accessed by the stone ‘staircase’ to the right of the little wooden bench and follows along the top of the rock walls. The south approach begins near the larger bridge to the south of the stream crossings. (Trailhead waypoints are included from both.) You decide which one is more suited to your abilities. Whichever approach you choose, be extremely careful near the edges: the ground is soft and muddy after rainfall and snowmelt, but even when dry, the edges can be treacherous if you get too close."

jab430: ALZARIUS!!!! You really outdid yourself on this cache! The hike in and general area had me recollecting fond memories of finding Parker Pinnacle with you. If I could pitch a tent and live here forever, I absolutely would. Every way I turned, there was beauty to be appreciated, savored and internalized. And to be here with dear friends, Brush Girl and Phos4s, made the day super fun. After crossing the water, I was drawn to the rocks and the little "cave" that one could walk in if hunched down a bit. I thought that was where the cache was. I had read the description, but I was so distracted by my surroundings that I wasn't thinking clearly. So, of course, Phos4s read the description and beat us to the top and found the cache. Who cares though? I was just happy to be in such a wonderfully beautiful, almost magical place. Thanks, Alzarius. Lovely, just lovely.
Ksullivan: Found with PegasusMoon and Pyro1970 while working on CAM. Wow! What can I say?? I would give this geocache 10 favorite points if I could. It was my kind of cache! A little stream crossing, a gorgeous rushing waterfall, an adventurous climb up some rock steps, a cardio workout up and across a hill, big rocks, and another spectacular view. This is the best cache I have done in long time! Thank you so much for placing it! SL TFTC
WVKiwi: Enjoyed this one! Climbed up the rocks and although it seemed to take a long time for our gps's to finally settle on the correct gz, it provided some extra chances to climb around a bit. Finally Saberspark77 was successful, cache was found, and we sat down and enjoyed the view for a few minutes. Very nice! TFTC

I think I was in too much pain from falling on the rocks to really appreciate it.
