I don’t think you can see the tag for logging until late on the 18th.

I've been *very* into following Mars Rover news and my guess is that they're going to wait until the thing actually lands safely. It's not unprecedented for one of these lander missions to go wrong.

Some cool stuff about it:
* Mark Rober's great summary of the event: https://youtu.be/tH2tKigOPBU
* The main website: https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/
* Smithsonian Channel has a fun augmented reality app: https://twitter.com/Immersi.../status/1 ... 0156484609...
* Clickable schematic of the rover: https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/spacecraft/rover/
* The livesteam starts (Thursday, 2:15pm EST): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm0b_ijaYMQ&t=0s
(Atmospheric entry is anticipated to be 3:48pm EST with touchdown at about 3:55pm EST.)

The Geocaching HQ podcast had a good episode on how the trackable came to be:

Episode 48: Geocaching on Mars – Interview with Dr. Francis McCubbin

It was definitely worth a listen...

There are some photos already out on the internet with the tracking number. The listing is locked so it can't be logged yet. I'm sure the number will be easier to find after the landing tomorrow.

If you're still looking, the Mars Perseverance trackable was made viewable on March 18th.
