Change in how Archived caches are handled

Post by FrancisScottKey »

In the past Maryland has enjoyed a policy of being able to have a recently archived cache returned to active status. We want to inform you that we will follow the Geocaching HQ guidelines moving forward. In order to comply with the current Geocaching HQ guidelines if your cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived. See the following link to learn more about the archive or unarchive guidelines.

It is important to know that when you get a note on your cache from the reviewer because of a potential problem with your cache. You have at least 30 days to take some type of action. If for some reason you need more time to make replacement or repairs to the hide you just simply need to post a note on the cache listing letting the reviewer know that you are going to take care of the problem. This doesn't mean you have forever but if you need more time you just need to let the reviewer know. This note must be done by cache owner on the cache listing that has the reviewer note. If there is no note or action and the cache is archived by the reviewer it is gone forever. Please pay attention to your reviewer notes and please take care of your cache issues timely.
