CAM Photo Contest - printing those pics

Post by hunterKat »

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best place(s) to get quality prints & enlargements made? My dependable go-to for several years has been Costco Photo Center, but the in-store "shops" have shut down in the past year. I don't even know if any independent photo centers or camera shops still exist...
Thanks!

I think Staples can help you.
As for actual photos, there's a shop in VA.
Annandale Photo?
Also, National Photo in Reisterstown, MD

bneeriemer, have you had experience with Staples? That's the closest for me, but it's good to know about the others - thank you!

If you go in person, Walgreens has a nice setup for prints and enlargements. They will work with you to crop and otherwise edit the pictures, and print a proof for you before you pay for anything. We use the local store for all of our family pictures. The cost is reasonable and they often have special prices.

I don't know if all Walgreens are as reliable as the one near me. Quality probably varies.

NOTE: They have an online photo center which I advise against. The photo you see on your screen is not always cropped the same as the one they print out. They will reprint it for you, but that is a pain.

Anyway, my 2 shillings...

We may be taking the photos this year digitally. You may not need to print your photos this year.

Nope, not photos. They print documents for me.
But, I would be surprised if they don't print pictures.

Hey if I heard correctly there will be no need to print this year as submissions will be electronically submitted.

Can anyone confirm whether digital photo submissions are being accepted for the photo contest this year? Only rules I can find state photos must be 8x10 printed; Matt is not required.

Hello, everyone! We've decided to make the contest digital this year! It'll be easier on everyone involved, and get more eyeballs on your great photos.

You can send the photos to me at austinauclair [at] patientrock.com. I will confirm receipt of the photos within 24 hours, so if you don't hear from me, something has gone wrong--- reach out to me here on the forums if so.

Will the photos be available for viewing online before the picnic?

We'll post them all at once when the voting starts. Probably not until the day of the picnic with a few days open for voting.
