MGS Specialty Plates 101–150
Many of you have enquired about the possibility of purchasing MGS license plates now that the first run of 100 plates has sold out. We have requested a second run from the MVA, however they now they require that we first assemble a list of 25 members committed to purchasing new plates. Once we have a list of 25 people, the MVA will then create plates 101–150 for us.
Please be aware you do NOT have to wait until your current registration expires. Any remaining time in your current registration will transfer over to your new MGS plates. You will be issued new stickers when you collect your new plates from the MVA.
The cost is a $7 donation to the MGS (via Paypal), and a one-time $25 fee to the MVA, payable upon collection of your plates.
If you are interested, please post on this thread, and your name will be added to the list. Please note that we cannot guarantee anyone a specific plate number. The MVA has been inconsistent in their policy regarding requested numbers: some employees are happy to pull a specific plate, others outright refuse. It seems to be down to the luck of choosing the right day to pick up your plates.
Additionally, we are considering updating the MGS logo for the new plates. The first 100 plates featured the green ‘Maryland Bootprints’ logo. It looks great on the MGS banner, but it's a bit difficult to read at such a small size. We propose switching to the ‘Round Hiker’ logo to get some Maryland flag action on the plate (we Marylanders love our flag!), but we'd like your feedback before moving forward with this change. A poll has been created to help us decide (see above). Option 1 is the logo currently in use, Option 2 is the proposed logo. If you have any strong opinions on the matter, please post them below. We look forward to hearing what you think!

If the new style is approved, can those who have an old style plate switch to the new style one?

This was one of my questions as well. The employee i asked said no, but i intend to ask a little further up the food chain. Fingers crossed!zekester wrote:If the new style is approved, can those who have an old style plate switch to the new style one?

Re: MGS Specialty Plates 101–150
Omg, NONE of the original 100 plates are available?!
I've been meaning to get MGS plates, but I've been wondering if the plates can be transferred from an old vehicle to a new one? For example, if I trade a car in, can I somehow use the old car plates for a new car?

Two vehicles for HAPPeMurphy, so we'll take a couple slots on the interest list. We have forms already, so let's do this!

Re: MGS Specialty Plates 101–150
In our initial talks with the DMV, they said we could not make the new logo retroactive to the old plates. However, they did say they would look into it and get back to us, but in true DMV fashion we are still waiting for them.

Yes, when you trade in a car, your plates can transfer to your new car.LestISmiteThee wrote:if I trade a car in, can I somehow use the old car plates for a new car?

Re: MGS Specialty Plates 101–150
I like Option 2 (and prefer the white as opposed to pale yellow background). But, dummy me, I can't figure out how to cast my vote for the new logo. I suspect I'm going to challenge the results if the outcome of this "election" doesn't go my way! Nor do I see how to add my name to the list of those signing up for an MGS plate. Does this message suffice for both issues?

Ok, I finally saw how to cast a vote for option 2, but I still am not sure if my willingness to purchase a set of plates is being recorded.

Re: MGS Specialty Plates 101–150
I actually prefer the old plate... but since I already HAVE mine, and hope to hang on to it this time, it doesn't really matter to me either way. I'm voting for the "new" one because it seems like y'all are ready for a change. I'll just help ya along!

The poll is way up at the very top of this thread. Click the radio button next to the option you wish to vote for, then click the "Submit vote" button to do just that. Post a reply to this thread stating you wish to sign up for plates, and we'll add your name to the list for you. All part of the service!

Re: MGS Specialty Plates 101–150
Please add GnomeGCer to the list. I'd like one of these new series of MGS tags. I understand there's no mechanism in place to get the tag # we want from MVA. Framed under that perspective, I'm still going to request #123. Wish me luck!

In case I didn't sign up correctly, I want to be included in the MGS license tag purchase.
