Hi, my name is Kris Meehling, but I’m better known as Soccertoa. I am running for vice-president of the Maryland Geocaching Society for 2019. I am an active geocacher in Maryland and the surrounding states and I have been actively geocaching since the fall of 2011 and also I have had the opportunity to participate in CAM every year beginning in 2013. Besides the several hides I have in the Columbia area and near Liberty Reservoir, I also organize a monthly meet & greet on the 1st Thursday of every month in the Columbia mall. I love all sorts of caching, but especially the higher D/T ratings. I also love to work on challenges. I realize there are many different geocachers who have various reasons for enjoying this fun game and have assorted preferences in the types of geocaches they seek as well as different capabilities. I hope to help keep Maryland a fun geocaching state for all those who love the game no matter what their preferences and abilities, and also help new geocachers learn the game and come to enjoy it as much as the rest of us. I have been very active in the MGS for a number of years and attended all the MGS sponsored picnics this past year as well as MGS CITO events in both the spring and the fall. I understand the commitment required by the MGS officers and the workload involved in helping run the MGS. Because my children are grown and out of the house, I have the time available to commit to the various MGS activities. I am also a good listener and fairly observant and I would like to help assure that the MGS is meeting the needs of its members and making changes that will help the MGS continue to grow and thrive in our state. Please vote for me for Vice-President for 2019. Your vote is very much appreciated.

Who I Am: CodyHollowFarm aka Stacy
Mom of two teens, wife to an amazing husband, and a proud advocate
to special needs adults with varying degrees of diabilities.
I've been geocaching since 2007. And have been all over the USA and
South America geocaching. I was co-chair for the Geowoodstock when it
was held in Maryland and stepped up when my co-chair leader had a
family emergency in the days before. In Cecil County, I have started
and aided in a special needs group of geocachers, and hosted events
with them to help integrate them fully into the caching world where
there, they aren't looked at differently. In conjunction with
that, Headquarters graciously donated older units which I use
to work with our clients. Together we work on vital social skills and
also work with local cachers who learn about them and how they're not
so different after all.
Recently, I was extremely immersed in making sure the Susquehanna
FYC and Summer caches were placed accordingly, and I tracked down the
ranger and got them in under the wire in time for publication. I gave
them my word I would personally be responsible and have kept that,
even going so far to pull former caches that were archived, finding
new places for the FYC cache and working closely with leaders to make
sure they met guidelines. I've had the honor of hosting and co-hosting
new cachers meetings/events where I helped share, guide and even set
up new cache accounts for cachers. I don't mind driving three hours to
do cache maintenance on my caches (honestly, I get to see my nephew in
college) and my phone number is on many PAF contact lists.
I've helped by volunteering at many events,be it megas, giga's or
local, and my biggest accomplishment is the gift of being flexible and
adaptable so I can help where needed. I'm grateful for the cachers I
have met around Maryland, the US and internationally. I know that with the great
network we have, any one can reach out and get caching help.
My goal the following year is to see another successful CAM, with
great hides, a great picnic, and of course great times by all. I feel
my diversity, with so much inclusion happening in the world, allows me
to communicate effectively and be an important asset to the MGS. As a
people person, I strive to please people and like to be social and
interact. I always talk about geocaching and Maryland and of course
CAM! I'm confident as a whole that with the current leadership, and
the continuity we can continue on a great trail and keep the MGS
moving forward in the right direction so that we can continue with CAM
and the perks that we have all come to expect with it.
I feel I have met the commitment level needed to continue forth and be an asset to the MGS as vice president, and look forward to seeing many at events, on the trails, and in the forums. Happy caching!
Stacy
