Camping can be reserved by going to the Fort Frederick State Park site here.

Restrooms and showers are available. Camping has a minimal fee. There may be 6 people per campsite but no number of tents are stated.

Update. This is on the reservation email. Wanted everyone to have all of the information.

Important Messages
All camping units must remain on the designated camp pad.

Campground DOES NOT have hook ups, electric or water. No central bathhouse, Only port-a-johns. A modern bathroom with flush toilets and OUTSIDE showers is located behind the park store, 3/4 mile away from campground. Water available to fill containers located at railroad crossing; dumpster located at railroad crossing. Campsites have fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post.

Responsible person (18 years of age or older) must register and must be a member of the party for the entire stay.

The site is unserviced.

This is a pet friendly site. Pet campers are required to have pets leashed, licensed and up to date on all vaccinations. If you arrive with a pet on a non-pet friendly site, you will not be able to register for your site unless you make alternate arrangements for your pet.

Campsite Information

Check-in: Check-in begins at 3:00 pm. Campers must register during office hours, no late arrivals are permitted. Campers arriving after the office closes should call the Duty Ranger at 443-805-1759. Campers must arrive and check in before 9:00 pm. The entrance gate is closed and locked at 9:00 pm.

Check-out: Check-out is 1:00 pm. Please give yourself sufficient time to pack and load your belongings before 1:00 pm so that others may check-in promptly.

Office Hours: April to October: 9:30 am - 5:00 pm Sunday - Saturday; 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00 am - 8:00 pm Friday.

Pets: Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash and under close supervision at all times. Please review the State Park Pet Policy at: http://dnr.maryland.gov/Publiclands/Pages/pets.aspx.

Total Campers Per Site: Maximum of 6 overnight campers, including children. Maximum of 4 additional visitors per site until 10:00 pm; day use fees apply. Please register at the Visitor Center.

Two Vehicles Per Site: Vehicles must display permit and be parked on the gravel surfaces only.

Camping Units Per Site: Maximum of 3 tents or 1 wheeled unit and up to 2 tents. All equipment must fit on camping pad

Fires in Fire Rings Only: Campfires should be attended at all times.

Trash: Must be placed in dumpster near Rail Road tracks.

Insects at Fort Frederick: Mosquitoes and other biting insects may be abundant from May to November; protective clothing and repellent are recommended.

Quiet Hours in effect from 10:00 pm - 7:00 am for improved protection of the resource and to enhance visitor enjoyment. Radios should be turned off and voices should not carry beyond the campsite.

Generator Use: The operation of generators is prohibited during the established quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. At times outside of quiet hours, all aspects of their operation must conform to standards designed to prevent disturbing other visitors and to preserve the peace and tranquility of the park environment, to include COMAR 08.07.06.20(F).

Fort Frederick State Park Information

Historic Fort Frederick: The park store and the 1756 historical stone fort is staffed April to October 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday and seven days a week Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Nature Center is open weekends Memorial Day to Labor Day. Admission to the Fort and Nature Center are included in your camping fee.

Emergency and 24-Hour Contact Information: Call 911 for emergency assistance. For 24-hour assistance or to report a violation, call the Natural Resources Police at 1-800-825-7275 or 1-410-260-8888. For park information or assistance call the Duty Ranger at 443-805-1759.

Alcohol Policy: The consumption, or possession of an open container, of an alcoholic beverage is prohibited in all State Park areas, including campgrounds. Golden Age Pass Holders: Pass must be presented upon check-in at the park and passholder must be an occupant on the site for the length of the reservation. Firewood Restriction: Due to the potential of invasive insects, the importation of firewood into all Department of Natural Resources properties is prohibited. Please do not bring firewood with you. The CSX rail road passes through the park. Trains may be noisy for some campers.

Changes and Cancellations

Reservations may be changed or cancelled within 24 hours of the date of initial booking without a service charge.

Changes or cancellations made up to close of business on the day prior to the scheduled date of arrival will require a $4.75 per reservation service charge. Cancellations made on the scheduled date of arrival will require the payment of one night’s camping service charge for each reservation and a $4.75 per reservation service charge.

No refunds are issued for no-shows / cancellations / early departures after the scheduled date of arrival.

Reservation / transaction fees are non-refundable.

To modify or cancel reservations made via credit card, customers must verify the last four digits of their credit card number.

Cancellations or changes on the scheduled date of arrival must be made by contacting the park.
