Re: Geocaching Goals for 2020
The big news is that yoursonny won the grand prize of Drives Cache Closet' s Cache of the Month, monthly subscription for 2020.
Rules added: 1.You must be an active cacher which Portlywalker is defining as at least one geocaching outing each month of 2020. 2. Your goal must be quantifiable. That is, "feeling good" is not a quantifiable goal. 5 LPC caches a day is quantifiable.
REMEMBER to get your 2020 geogoal to Phill the Portlywalker by Feb,08, 2020.

Is posting here sufficient? If so, do you need phone / e-mail listed?portlywalker wrote: Rules added: 1.You must be an active cacher which Portlywalker is defining as at least one geocaching outing each month of 2020. 2. Re: Geocaching Goals for 2020
2020 Goals
1. Host at least 10 monthly events
Starting with January 19 in Jessup, MD.
2. Complete CAM, including picnic.
I've been involved with a conflicting event the last few years that has make it harder, including keeping me from the picnic in 2018. I won't be involved this the event this spring.
3. Find at least 365 caches.
That will give me the most finds since 2013. This Saturday is looking like a good caching day!

Posting here is sufficient for getting goals submitted; other form info needed to make it possible to easily communicate throughout the year. If you are NOT in my phone's contact listing my phone is set to IGNORE you.

Re: Geocaching Goals for 2020
I’m honored, but the misspelled name makes me sad. See https://www.mdgps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=9961 on how to correctly spell my name.portlywalker wrote:The big news is that yoursonny won the grand prize of Drives Cache Closet' s Cache of the Month, monthly subscription for 2020.
My goal in 2019 was:
I never missed a month, although some were hidden several months before they are published so that I have some “backup” when I don’t feel like going out. In three occasions, Liberty ManBear took the cache before FTFer arrives.Hide a cache every month.
I have looked up the prize. It looks like I have to continue hiding. The red cap has agreed to leave me a few trails in bus accessible areas, in case some containers from the prize cannot fit into a traffic sign.

Re: Geocaching Goals for 2020
The award was done via a drawing against others who had submitted goals, but there was no criteria as to must complete your goal. 2020 does have a requirement to do a geo outing every month. There is no way to measure goals of one person versus another . Personally I could only manage one of three of my goals in 2019.

Re: Geocaching Goals for 2020
My goals may not seem like the most ambitious, but here they are:
1. Participate in a CITO in both spring and fall CITO seasons.
2. Hide at least 2 caches. My problem is that I tend to overanalyze everything, and hiding a cache becomes a long drawn out process for me. Last year I decided to hide at least 2 per year (hid 3). So I'm going to continue that.
3. CAM. Sadly, I'll be at a wedding out of town for the picnic (don't tell my wife I said "sadly"), but I will set the goal of finding all the CAM caches and figuring out where the picnic is even if I won't be able to complete CAM by attending the picnic.

Re: Geocaching Goals for 2020
This year I will still have the hiding goal, but slightly reduced as: hide two caches every quarter.
I'll try to make one mystery to make WJ Family and Puzzlid happy, and one non-mystery to make the red cap happy.
More importantly, maintain existing hides.
Finding goals must be modest:
Fill one more Jasmer box
In my interview, there's a Jasmer grid showing four missing boxes, and I removed 2000-2004 because they were so ugly. At end of 2019, I got all four filled, plus all of 2002-2004 and several in 2000 thanks to a trip to Oregon. This year, I'll try to fill one more box in 2000-2001. Attempt the Adventure Lab app.
If I can get it working, that is.

I watched you writing them down and I think it read verbatim:Snurt wrote:Simple goals here -

3) I forgot what I wrote portlywalker. Help?
3) I will teach AL's Guide how to hide a cache as large as an elephant behind a blade of grass.
Pretty much what I saw on your card.

Also, not listed as # 4, you were going to go to at least one local event a month.

2020 goals
Find a geocache in a new country or an area that has a location based souvenir.
Find more geocaches than I did in 2019.
Find at least one of the five remaining year 2000 geocaches I have yet to find.
Finally complete my fizzy grid!
Reach 100 countries geocached in according to geocaching.com
