Re: Hart-Miller Island Trip, September 15 and 25, 2023
I have lost track of which trip has space, but I would like to get on the list for the 25th if possible!
I could also make the 15th work if the 25th is filled up and there is space on the 15th.
Thanks!

Gosh, there were several messages that I hadn't seen until today.
I've now updated the lists in the 2nd post of this thread. Both boats are full although there are a few maybes!
Let me know if I have you on the wrong boat or have missed you.

Re: Hart-Miller Island Trip, September 15 and 25, 2023
Trip info follows!
The departure point (landbase) is 2024 Riverview Road, Essex, MD 21221. Drive through the open metal gate and park in the area near the dock. MES recommends arriving 15-30 minutes before the tour begins to leave time to go to the bathroom (there is a porta-potty at landbase) and get on lifejackets. Departure time is 10 am. The boat leaves from landbase and the ride is about 15 minutes long.
Bring a water bottle and lunch, sunscreen and bug spray are recommended. Wearing closed-toed shoes is required (who knows why!?).
Attached is a pdf with more info and MES asks all participants to read it. If there is SEVERE weather on the day, the trip will be canceled, otherwise it is a go rain or shine.

Anyone bringing snacks to share?
Are we turning this into a mini floating & hiking party?

No. Bringing one's own lunch is suggested. I doubt there will be suitable facilities (table? flies?) or time (bus tour around the island is part of the trip) to share food but, of course, bring whatever snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages you like.

EVERYONE on the list for the 15th has confirmed they'll be there (either via facebook or message to me personally). Sorry, no free spots for those on the waitlist.

ONE space has opened up on the 15th, can you make it? See the event page https://coord.info/GCABTAK I recommend posting a will attend on the event https://coord.info/GCABTAK so you are notified if it gets canceled due to weather (wind? crossing fingers!).

Heard rumors of more boat trips in the Spring? I did not see anything about that on the MGS site...

Re: Hart-Miller Island Trip, September 15 and 25, 2023
This is not an MGS event. It is a kindness by a couple of geocachers (who have already been to the island) to the community to help others make the trip. Your personal choices don’t place a burden on anyone else. You could, quite simply, ring up the DNR and make your own arrangements.kolojezdec wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 7:23 am Thanks for the information.
