I’m hosting an event on Tangier Island on Saturday, June 14th. The island has an Earthcache and a Star Spangled Banner geotour cache. And there is a virtual that starts in Reedville, VA that also requires a visit to the island.
This island has an interesting history and is being impacted by erosion and the rising sea level. It has its own culture and dialect.
There are details about how to get there in the cache description. Basically you can take a boat from Reedville to the island and back. It only goes over and back once a day. 10am to 4pm. There is a different boat that leaves from Crisfield on the Eastern Shore but the times are later. I scheduled the event for the last part of our window of time there in case people do come from the other side. Everyone is responsible for purchasing your own boat tickets. $35 for adults and $25 for children.
