They have now published several pre and post events. One of which is the Friday night event where you can pick-up your registration package. They are having a Pow Wow featuring the Native American history of the region GC2VQ5Y. Very cool!

They have opened up registration for the GW Texas Hold'em poker game. If you are interested in trying to get a seat, go to the GW forums and enter your name.
The MGS made a good showing at the Tenn. GW poker game and Ferrettpack walked away with a load of geocoins!

Re: Geowoodstock IX in PA!!!!
Last year a small group gathered for a picture with the MGS banner at Geowoodstock VIII. This year we wanted to formalize a time so anyone attending could get in the group shot for Geowoodstock IX. Look for the MGS banner somewhere on the grounds July 2nd then at 13:00 gather in that area to take the official MGS Geowoodstock IX group photo

Re: Geowoodstock IX in PA!!!!
I am a Mega Event Noob, so I have a couple of quick questions:
1. Do they put out new caches like we do at our events?
2. For our MGS photo, can we hold our own event?
3. Rumor has it there are vendors everywhere.
4. Do we know who all is going from MGS?

Yes, there usually are new caches but there are still lots in the area.
I don't think we can hold an event within an event.
Vendors are everywhere and are usually packed and lines and it's great!
Haven't got a clue as to who all is going from MGS. I know billy, Lori and I will be there camping on site. Maybe we need to do a roll call or just do what we normally do, find folks as we wonder around.
You're going to have a blast. This will be my third geowoodstock and billy's fourth. Lots of good people from all over and some good caches.

"Gee, I don't think cachers are going to have enough to do in our area. We only have 1110 caches within 25 miles of the venue, 4696 within 50 miles and 14291 within 100 miles... And I know for a fact there will be more coming out soon..."
Even if the reviewer would allow it, I wouldn't want to disrespect the Geowoodstock event by holding an MGS event within it. Pennsylvania is our host and I would hate to give the wrong impression of Maryland. However, scheduling a flashmob or small event somewhere in the vicinity would work if someone wanted to organize it, as there are already several events scheduled around Geowoodstock.
There will be lots of vendors, by looking at the Geowoodstock Sponsor Page will give you a general idea of some vendors that will attend. Groundspeak will also be sending at least 2 Lackey's to the event too.
By looking at this thread and the MGS Facebook Page some of the members attending can be identified. Might be interesting to start a specific thread and get a better idea of MGS attendance.

Re: Geowoodstock IX in PA!!!!
Are there any "Must Do" things that can only be accomplished at Geowoodstock or an event like this?
I don't know what I am talking about or I would not have the question.
What I don't want to have happen is to show up at the 1pm MGS banner picture and have someone say..."I did not see you at the widget gadget event at 11. Didn't you know this is the only time you can do that one?"

Thanks!

Re: Geowoodstock IX in PA!!!!
Great pic. Hey, there was a trackable there and my pic didn't turn out. If you know the number and are OK with PMing it to me please do. It was the big concrete pillar with the round metal tag in front of the trackables pavillion.
