This is a bit off-topic, but I know there's still some crossover between Geocachers and Pokemon Go players.

Otakon and Niantic are teaming up with Make-A-Wish Foundation to hold a special event for Isla, a 6-year-old-girl from our area who was born with a complicated heart defect. Her wish is to play Pokemon Go in real life. She'll be given special tasks and gifts along the way, and they want as many participants as possible to cheer her on, dress up in Pokemon gear or cosplay, and add to the happy atmosphere. Voice actors from the Pokemon series will also be in attendance.

Isla's special day will be Friday, August 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The start time is TBD, but the main event will be around 1pm. There are currently talks for Otakon to supply participants with one-day passes.

Otakon was founded in 1994 and is an annual convention held in the Summer to celebrate Asian pop culture (anime, manga, music, movies, video games, etc).

You can sign up to help make Isla's special day the best day ever and will receive further info by email: https://www.otakon.com/activities/make-a-wish/

YOU DO NOT NEED TO PLAY POKEMON GO TO ATTEND. If you just want to cheer her on, or bring your kids or grandkids, or just cache in the area, everyone is welcome.
