We have approximately 24 teams registered between the GC and the MDGPS sites. I know some teams will have several people but other teams have only one person. The rough estimate I gave Bear Creek was right around 50 people which also happens to be the number of seats they have in their restaurant. They can squeeze a few more in if need be - they've got the room.

CA$H and Dash game

Post by Shiraz-mataz »

For those attending this event there will be one special optional game... something I call the CA$H -and- Dash!

There will be a clever multi hidden somewhere in the park. To play the game, each team pays a nominal fee and is handed the clue. First team to find and return with the special cache wins ALL of the money collected for the game. My question is, how much do y'all think the "nominal fee" should be? If 20 teams participate and the fee is $5.00 then the winner gets $100.00; if the fee were only $1.00 then you'd only win $20.00... I don't want to set the fee so high that folks don't participate. Please post your thoughts.

Posted the event for the Tester

Post by Last Lap Gang »

I sent the below email to the Tester (Pax River Base Paper) for the Around the Town Section (things to do) for next Thursday March 18th. Most of the cachers in this area are affiliated some way here so it is a good spot to draw new potential cachers possibly. Below is the content. No guarantees it will be in the paper but they usually run them:

Maryland Geocaching Society Meet & Greet

The Maryland Geocaching Society will be holding their Monthly Meet & Greet Saturday March 20th at 11:00 AM. The event will start with lunch at Bear Creek restaurant on Route 5 in Callaway Maryland. The geocaching will then commence at the St. Mary's River State Park around the St. Mary's Lake. Geocaching is a great sport that involves hiking and finding objects using a Global Positioning System (GPS) with accuracies under 10 feet. If you enjoy the outdoors and hunting for "treasures" come on out and learn more about geocaching..

Details on the event can be found at www.mdgps.org

Cash-Dash

Post by trev »

We had a similar event called Ante up at our summer or fall picnic last year. It was 5 dollars a team and there was a limit on the amount of teams but I don't remember many people being interested. I'm not sure if it was the cost or the amt of time it would take to complete.

You may want to create a poll on MDGPS or post a note on the Cache page to find the info you desire.

I vote for 3-5 dollars per team.

5 bucks a team sounds good to me. I agree that you should create a poll here and advertise the poll on the cache page.

Well...Looks like Lakemaster will be a no show on this one too. Bummer. I will be heading to the ocean this weekend to place the CAM cache as promised. With my current work schedule, it may be my last chance to get the job done and in the time frame remaining. I just can't take the chance that I will let everyone down. This working for a living stuff is for the birds. :smt093 Have fun everyone.

I'm sorry to here that bro., you'll be missed.

To everyone else, bring your waterproof hikers.
I made my last trip around the lake to check out everything.
all the caches are hi and dry, wish I could say the same for the trails.
On an up note it looks like we're going to have great weather.

Have fun tomorow! I'll be logging some training hours in the saddle tomorow. I sent off my registration for the SM100 this week so I gotta start getting some miles in.

Hope to catch up with you guys at one of these a little close to home in the future.
